Official Guidelines

As per Indian Railways regulations for mutual seat swapping

Swapping is permitted after chart preparation with mutual consent
Only within the same class of travel (3AC to 3AC, Sleeper to Sleeper)
TTE must be informed about the exchange
Priority given to senior citizens, pregnant women, and women aged 45+
